Birthing Services Process

Before your birthing appointment

  • Your birth begins with an idea. What do you want that to look like? What kind of support would you like to see? Where do you want to give birth?

  • What even is a Doula?

    • A doula is a non-medical companion that can support you physically and emotionally throughout prenatal periods, labor and the post partum period.

    • A doula can help you plan, practice and advocate for your ideal birth and prepare you for the unexpected parts about labor and birth as well.

  • Why hire a doula?

    • A Doula can help reassure you, encourage you, advocate with you, and help you with changing positions, breathing, massage and relaxation techniques.

    • Doulas can support in hospitals, birthing centers or in home births.

    • Doulas can support in the postpartum periods to help families readjust to their new journey, help at home or provide support to birthing people and their partners.

  • Your Doula cannot offer health care or advice- this would be up to your medical provider or midwife.

  • Please email or call for a free 30 minute consultation to see if we will be a good fit for all your birthing needs and ideas.

During your birthing appointments- 1 Hour (3 in total)

  • Following your 15 minute consultation:

  • I will meet with you, and your support team if you choose to include others. We will discuss where you want to give birth, who would you like to be on your support team, how you like to relax, how you cope with pain, discomfort and distress, and what you would like your birth to look like.

  • I will discuss with you the basics of labor, and different stages. We will discuss different tools utilized in labor and discuss different birthing positions and the benefits of each.

  • I will work together with you and your support team to practice physically supporting the birthing person through role playing pressure and counter pressure support.

  • We will also discuss what the post partum period is and what to expect. I will explore what support you will need and who can provide it. We will discuss what a Doula’s role is during this period as well.

These Birthing appointments can be conducted in person or via Zoom depending on location of the client.
